Hero Karizma V3

Hero Karizma V3

There were reports that Hero might pull the plug on their Karizma brand in 2016, following what was one of the most disastrous updates we’ve seen. Both the new Karizmas (R & ZMR) failed to live up to their predecessor and barely managed four digit sales in the previous one year. What is even sadder is that both of them where decent looking motorcycles delivering ample power.

Hero has many reasons to kill their Karizma but if you have been following its development since day one you will know that there are even more reasons to keep it going. The bike has a loyal fan following even today and a great product from Hero can easily pull them back to the company.

–Hero to launch new flagship January next year.
I completely understand. To see it suffering… (nods head) No doubt it is a little bit like the premium segment where we really have been doing well. Entering into the segment first. Having received great market success. This is what we are focusing as well. To be there. Be acknowledged and valued by the customers. The brand will be there. The brand has to be there, no doubt. But give us some time. We will make the Karizma fans happy as well.

Mr Markus Braunsperger, Chief Technology Officer at Hero MotoCorp has said in an interview with Bikeadvice.in that:

The website further claims that Hero’s R&D will soon start working on a new Karizma model but whether it is a facelift or a completely new version is still unknown.

We expect the new Karizma to be based on a new platform with better looks and a new engine. The engine might be a higher tuned version of the 200cc mill that we saw on the Hero Xtreme 200S. This will also provide enough buffer with their upcoming HX250 and XF3R.

Hero To Launch New Karizma R Due To Sales Fall The sales fall for the Karizma twins and the delay of the HX250R has made Hero MotoCorp shift its focus back on the Karizma that will get revised later this year.

You read it first on MotorBeam. The Karizma was always a good product with a decent engine, good design language and healthy performance levels. But, then EBR happened to Hero MotoCorp who took the popular selling entry-level performance motorcycle and dashed it up with an ungodly styling which seemed to have taken inspiration from the ‘Aliens’ movie series. The impact has been such that the Karizma in today’s time has lost its sheen, especially since other manufacturers have moved on to scale new heights with better products. Sure the Karizma update was more of a stop-gap measure till the HX250R came out, but with the latter delayed, the automaker needs to focus back on its flagship product.

Hero MotoCorp has unveiled new dual tone colours for the Hero Karizma and the Hero Karizma ZMR at the Auto Expo 2016 in Greater Noida. Each model gets a new theme, with the former getting a white and orange dual tone pattern and the latter getting a red and white livery.

Hero Karizma dual tone

The semi-faired Karizma gets a new, white and orange colour theme with some black trims and panels. This is in addition to its existing colour choices that include Power Black, Ebony Grey, Sports Red, Spotlight White and Daring Yellow. This is the first dual tone variant of the standard Karizma. There is no mechanical change in the new version. It is powered by the 223 cc air-cooled single-cylinder carbureted engine with SOHC that produces 19.2 bhp at 7,500 rpm and 19.35 Nm at 6,000 rpm, and is mated to a five-speed gearbox.

The fully-faired version gets a new, red and white colour scheme which is the first dual tone option on the model. Its existing colours are Panther Black, Blazing Red, Spotlight White and Vibrant Orange.

The dual tone ZMR does not feature any other change. It is powered by the 223 cc air-cooled single-cylinder fuel-injected engine with an oil-cooler that produces 20 bhp at 8,000 rpm and 19.7 Nm at 6,500 rpm, and is paired with a five-speed transmission.
